Vehicle parts manufacturer significantly cuts emissions

Alstom is greening the electricity consumption of its Matranovák factory with a 1.5 megawatt solar farm, which will install 6,600 square meters of solar panels to meet 23 percent of the factory's annual electricity demand with green electricity, the company said.

Green electricity covers part of the energy needs of manufacturing

The solar panels will provide 1600-1700 megawatt hours of green electricity per year for the factory, saving the site 617 tonnes of emissions per year.
The company recalls that the Mátranovák factory started manufacturing bogie frames for metro and railway trains four decades ago. The products manufactured in Mátranovak are used in many types of trainsets across Europe: conventional and high-speed trains, commuter trains, locomotives and double-decker coaches.

One of the main suppliers of domestic fixed-route transport

Alstom has been a major player in Hungarian rail transport for more than 20 years. It is one of the largest metro train suppliers in the country, having produced 50 percent of the metro trains for Budapest's metro lines 2 and 4, the latter being the first driverless metro in Central and Eastern Europe. In addition, MÁV operates 25 Traxx locomotives in its own fleet and a number of other leased Alstom tram locomotives are running in Hungary.
