As an employer, you can make a difference! This time, WHB has succeeded in brand building
The company informed our newspaper about winning the „Excellent Employer Brand” award. WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft. The MagyarBrands programme has been recognising good domestic employer practices with this award since 2018. The Professional Committee of the „Excellent Employer Brand” category awarded the prize to the Hungarian construction company based on the following criteria:
- HR data: changes in staff numbers, wages, turnover rates.
- Employer branding practices: employer vision and practical measures to achieve it.
- Workplace attractiveness: benefits, work environment, integration and loyalty programmes.
- Employee satisfaction: an anonymous questionnaire completed by employees.
Future sustainability is more important than the benefit of the moment
"We believe that winning the award is not a matter of chance and luck," said Eszter Várady, HR Manager of WHB, in a summary sent to magyarepitok.hu. "Many years of invested work have confirmed the previously formulated idea that 'for us, sustainability of the future is more important than the benefit of the moment'. Be it business, partnership, working relationship. We believe that this idea has never been more relevant than in 2023."
He added that this is not just because of negative changes in the industry or changes in the labour market in recent years.
"We see that our strategy and the hard work we have put into it has really paid off. As a responsible and large company, we believe that the WHB group has the potential and the decisive role to play in the realisation and development of the construction industry as a brand: we want to set an example and create a lasting impression, even in collaboration with other players in the sector."
Employer brand building has become a key area of expertise
The report also revealed that WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft. was awarded the Employer Brand of Excellence award for the first time in its 26-year history at the end of last year. "In our opinion, an employer brand should not just be about generalities and catchy slogans," Eszter Várady pointed out. "We believe that building an employer brand has become a key area of expertise for 2023, as attracting and retaining new staff has undoubtedly become the biggest challenge of recent years. We believe that a good employer brand is authentic, attractive and differentiating. And we clearly want to make a big impact on the above.
He also revealed that 68 new staff joined WHB in 2023. "Never before in the history of our company has finding, integrating and then retaining new colleagues been so high on the agenda," the manager stressed.
"The above figure suggests a lot. For the present topic, what is most important for us is that the WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft. has an attractive and distinctive image within its own market, the construction industry. Our attractiveness shows that we are distinguishable from our competitors. Compared to our professional competitors, we can offer employees stability, challenge, career and development opportunities."
Many have been pillars of the society for 10, 15 or 20 years
He highlighted credibility as another key point of their employer brand. "Credibility is best judged realistically by our current employees, who are the ones who have seen our employer brand message first hand before joining us and then experienced the reality as an employee. They can draw parallels between promises and experiences."
He also said that valuing and retaining current staff is as important to them as recruiting new ones.
"Not only have many new colleagues joined us in 2023, but many of them have celebrated anniversaries, some of them 10, 15 or 20 years of service. Their knowledge and experience is essential to keep WHB in the market. They are the face of WHB in their respective fields.
In addition to attractiveness, distinctiveness and credibility, we believe that there should be a strong emphasis on coherence, and in particular on coordinated communication. Working with the marketing department, we want to communicate credible and effective messages that resonate with the collective of our company, our group of companies and potential candidates."
As employers, they also strive for permanence
Eszter Várady said that their employer's promise targets one of the most important expectations of employees - a secure job, a livelihood and financial security, which is achieved through continuous work and creativity. "We're constantly evolving, we're getting more feet on the ground," he pointed out. "We never stop, we are always looking for new things, and for that we need dedicated colleagues. It is not just the buildings we create that we want to make lasting: another aspect of our value proposition is the permanence, stability and stability of WHB as an employer, which is just as important. We can confidently say that we are a secure point in the lives of our employees."
He concluded by stressing that the WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft. Employer Brand of Excellence award is a joint success.
"The WHB team has achieved another great result in another area. We are proud of all those who contributed to this award, especially our colleagues, without whom this would not have been possible!"
