Southern Circular Railway: focus on the construction of works of art

As part of the Southern Circular Railway Phase II project, railway capacity will be expanded between the Ferencváros and Kelenföld stations, and two new railway stops will be built in the Közvágóhíd and Nádorkert areas. During the investment, railway bridges will be rebuilt at seven locations, and the necessary noise protection will also be installed as part of the project. The construction will be carried out by V-Híd Zrt., and the implementation design will be carried out by Kontúr Csoport Kft..

The line section is part of the MÁV Zrt. 1, Budapest-Hegyeshalom-Rajka main line, and is therefore of international importance. The creation of three or four tracks instead of two, and the construction of new stops, will increase the suburban and urban capacity of the railway by leaps and bounds.

Bridge structures are being built, bridge elements are being assembled and work is also underway on abutments

According to the announcement made by the investor Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium at the end of March, the contractor is carrying out the following works on the project: on the Pest side, concrete work is underway on the retaining wall at bridgehead ”A” on Gubacsi út, while at bridge “A” on Közvágóhíd, “BC” and “E” supports of the Közvágóhíd structure, the formwork for the rising wall, the placement of the crossbeams and the installation of the pile connectors are still in progress.

On the Buda side:

• The installation of the reinforcing steel for the pile girders and the formwork is currently underway at the "C" support of the reed garden;
• Between Szerémi út and Fehérvári út, the following works are in progress: construction, insulation and backfilling of the base plate and the ascending wall;
• The installation of the bridge elements is underway on the Szerém road;
• At Bartók Béla út, the following works are underway: bridge structure fabrication, steel material procurement, fitting out of the assembly area, yoke and mounting beak assembly;
• The backfill between Fehérvári út and Bartók Béla út is under construction;
• The construction of traffic engineering for pedestrian traffic is underway on Fehérvári út;
• Between Bartók Béla út and Kelenföld, soil replacement is underway.
