Three Magyar Építő Zrt. buildings win world championships

The jury of the World Competition accepted 87 entries, including 9 projects nominated by the EESC, three of which were awarded podium places.

Three buildings in Hungary have been awarded: the Hungarian House of Music won gold, the Museum of Ethnography silver and the Western Railway Station bronze medals at the World Roofing Championships (IFD Award) in Merano, Italy - according to a press release from the Hungarian Association of Roof Insulators, Roofers, Tinsmiths and Carpenters (ÉMSZ).

As we reported earlier, the Hungarian House of Music and Nyugati Railway Station will be equipped with the Magyar Építő Zrt. model, while the Museum of Ethnography will be equipped with the ZÁÉV Zrt. and the Magyar Építő Zrt. consortium.

The IFD brings together the national roofing associations of 15,000 roofing companies from 22 countries. Hungary is represented in this worldwide professional organisation by the ÉMSZ. Every two years, every odd year, the world championship is held, and this year, in addition to European countries, the United States, South Africa and China were represented.

At the world competition, the jury accepted 87 entries, including 9 projects entered by the ÉMSZ, three of which were awarded podium places.

Outstanding results also at international level

Regular members of the IFD, national associations can apply in the categories flat roof, sheet metal roofing, façade and high roof. In a statement, Levente Szalai, Managing Director of the ÉMSZ, said that at the awards ceremony on 13 October:

Metal Hungaria Holding Zrt. won the gold medal in the flat roof section for the extravagant roof insulation of the Hungarian House of Music,
also won the silver medal in the flat roof section with their joint project Renomé-Bau Kft. and Lajta-Duna Építő és Vízszigetelő Kft., the special roof structure of the Ethnographic Museum,
and Horex Kft. won the bronze medal in the sheet metal roofing category with the Nyugati station roof.

They underlined that this year's event is an outstanding success for Hungarian insulation and tinsmithing professionals on the international stage. This is further proof that the skills of Hungarian roofing contractors are as highly regarded as those of their Swiss, Austrian and German colleagues. In addition to the Hungarian buildings, the Tallinn Cathedral was also awarded a prize in the category of sheet metal roofing at the World Championships.

It was recalled that the previous IFD AWARD 2021 was the world champion with the roof of the Buda Castle Riding Hall in the category of sheet metal roofing Horex Kft., the silver medal in the same category was awarded to Pilis Pléh-Boy Kft. and Zoltán Németh with the roof of the Károlyi-Csekonics Palace and also the silver medal in the facade category was awarded to Tető-Kovács Kft. and Bőszén and Társa Bt. with the Kecskemét Tőzsdetojaja.

Founded in 1988, the aim of the association is to promote the development of the building insulation, roofing, tinsmithing and carpentry professions and to protect their interests.
