Europe's leading roof tile manufacturer to build new production plant in Hejőpapi

Wienerberger will produce a new product, large concrete tiles and accessories, at its plant in Borsod. In their press release, they also mention that in addition to their CO2 neutral plant, they will also be building a one-hectare outdoor digital warehouse.

The production of tiles, from concrete mixing to forklift trucks, will be automated.

The HUF 12 billion hall would produce 3 million square metres of concrete tiles per year, covering more than 300 football pitches.

The new plant will produce mainly for export

The Hungarian subsidiary of Wienerberger is already operating as a regional production centre in several European countries. Seventy percent of the ceramic roofing tiles produced in Békéscsaba and more than three quarters of the Kőszeg bridging tiles are exported.

The plant to be built in Hejőpapi will supply raw material from the gravel and sand mines in the area. The finished products will be sold mainly on foreign markets.

Founded in Vienna in 1819, the parent company has grown to become the world's largest brick manufacturer and a European leader in roof tiles. Wienerberger has more than 200 production plants worldwide and nine in Hungary.
