Artificial bay and marina built on Lake Balaton
Construction work started in 2022, with the construction of a breakwater and an artificial bay using dry technology and coastal machinery. The 5.5-hectare site was designed using a number of green solutions. The club takes its name from the unique Y-shaped inner bay.
"Several great things; nature, boating, the Balaton lifestyle, outstanding services and quality hospitality will now come together in Alsóörs. The vast, spacious grounds, the horizon that stretches across the whole lake and the diversity of vegetation in the several hectares of parkland give the club a truly unique atmosphere. This is the first marina in Hungary where, in addition to a wide range of amenities, a high standard of nautical services can be offered in one place," said Enikő Janák of Ypsilon Yacht Club.
The port can accommodate three hundred ships
The 1.45-hectare inner part of the harbour can accommodate 126 vessels, while the 3.2-hectare outer harbour in the lake bed can accommodate 172 vessels. In addition to traditional Balaton sailing boats, the new complex in the bay can also accommodate boats and catamarans over 40 feet in length. The infrastructure will be designed to accommodate 65 electric boats, with fast power supply. The moorings are equipped with smart systems with individual billing, but electric chargers have also been installed in the club's car park.
Tropical wood-clad piers
In the harbour, the strategic partner of KÉSZ Csoport installed 28 fixed piers covering an area of 825 square metres, with access bridges and unique corner elements. The port has been covered with special tropical wood panelling, which is resistant to extreme weather conditions due to its hardness and high wear resistance.
Our newspaper in July 2023 published an interview with Attila Lovászi, managing director of MAHART Tiszayacht Kft., in which he highlighted the following about the project:
"It is interesting to note that although we are talking about an almost 7.5 hectare facility, the port does not take land from Lake Balaton, but increases its water surface, as the project has created an artificial bay by dry construction."
The complex also offers a range of services, including a restaurant, swimming pools, tennis and volleyball courts, a playground and barbecue area, in addition to the apartment buildings and wellness centre.
Boat service also operates at the Y
The harbour also has a ship service centre with a 16 tonne capacity crane installed. The investor had this unit installed in a separate area away from the lake, instead of on the water. Neither from here nor from the parking lot will water be discharged directly back into the lake; it will only be released into Lake Balaton after purification.
A built-in flow system ensures ice-free water surface and water quality in the bay
During the construction of the port, the protected reed beds were protected. The water quality of the inner bay is ensured by a built-in flow system, which also provides an ice-free water surface in winter, so that boats can be kept afloat during this period. The shore buildings are powered by solar panels and heated by ground source heat pumps.
