The beach of the capital of Lake Tisza is reborn

The Szabadvízi Strand and its surroundings in Tiszafüred, as well as Halas Square and its surroundings, will be renovated with HUF 300 million, said

The non-refundable grant for the investment was won by the municipality-owned Tisza-Víz Víztermelő és Szolgáltató Kft., which is also the operator of the Szabadvízi Strand in Tiszafüred, from the Operational Programme for Regional and Urban Development Plus (Top Plus), they wrote.

It is hoped that the development, to be completed by the end of 2025, will encourage visitors to Tiszafüred and Lake Tisza to spend more time here. At the same time, new tourism services will be created that will contribute to the development of the region, directly or indirectly, by creating jobs, they said.

An information pillar reminiscent of a lighthouse will also be built

The project includes the renewal of the Szabadvízi Strand and its surroundings: the reconstruction of the Fish Space stage, a beach library, a beach article shop and a beach buffet. In addition, an event area with two snack bars will be created, as well as a public water block and social facilities. The project also includes the construction of a lightweight warehouse and a promenade along the existing paved walkway.

In addition to this, an information point will be created, with content related to Lake Tisza on every page. The 4 m high column will resemble a lighthouse. The project will also include a playground, a water playground, a bicycle track and a permanent outdoor exhibition space," the statement said.

The beach has already undergone a major renovation in 2019, so for the 2020 season a 500 m2 beach complex has been created, including a water polo field, a sunbathing area and a play island.
