Nearly one billion forints worth. Some of the public procurement contracts have already been successfully completed.

Smart gardens and technological innovations are helping the development of the Mosonmagyaróvár campus of Széchenyi István University (SZE), the university announced on Friday. In connection with this, a successful public procurement procedure was also successfully concluded in the coming days, with the contractor for the first part of the project also being selected. The Szabó és Társa Belsőépítészeti Kft. will work on several elements of the development in a project worth approximately HUF 314 million net, lasting 9 months from the handover of the work site.

The University is developing the infrastructure of the Albert Kázmér Mosonmagyaróvár Faculty (AKMK) in the field of dairy and herbal processing in the framework of the Rural Development Programme of the Ministry of Agriculture, with the involvement of nearly one billion HUF in the overall project series.

  • A smart garden will be set up for education, demonstration and research,
  • expand the technology of the small dairy farm,
  • implement demonstration farm programmes.
  • A herb and medicinal herb garden and an orchard will be established on the Lucsony Street site of the small farm.
  • The greenhouse will be renovated and 50 sick trees will be felled.

Students can gain practical experience

As a result of the project, secondary and higher education students, small producers and businesses will be able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in dairy production with plant-based ingredients.

The aim of the development is to promote traditional food production technologies, sustainable cultivation and use of medicinal and aromatic plants used in folk medicine as food raw materials, and the operation and demonstration of automated digital process control and quality assurance systems.
