Hungary's largest children's hospital gets two new buildings

The Heim Pál nurses' home and psychiatric outpatient clinic were also renewed, partly with state and partly with EU funding.

The renovated Heim Pál Országos Gyermekgyógyászati Intézet nurses" residence in Budapest was officially handed over on Thursday. At the event, Péter Takács, State Secretary for Health, said that the hospital's nurses" residence had been renovated with 368 million forints in government funding, and also reported that the building housing the institution's child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient clinic had also been renovated. The latter was renovated with 434 million forints in EU funding. According to public procurement data, the renovation of the nurses' quarters was carried out by TLT-System Kft..

 

27 new homes for the sisters

Director General Anikó Nagy said.

The renovation of the nurses' home is a major step forward in providing modern housing for staff. The investment will provide affordable and good quality housing. According to the press release, 27 modern apartments have been created in the nurses' home. The 35 square metre apartments have two bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen. The rooms have been fitted with new tiling, new windows and doors, and new mechanical installations.

 

A key site for child and adolescent psychiatric care has been modernised

Regarding the child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient clinic, the Director General said that the institution is one of the largest such care centres in the Central Hungarian region. The renovated building meets all the requirements to ensure long-term outpatient care for children with high-risk psychiatric disorders, he added.
