Among other things, a new pedestrian crossing point will be created on Váci út; new cycling and pedestrian links will also be created at the new intersections in the Göncz Árpád city centre.

MBH Domo Kft., the developer of the new headquarters of MBH Bank, has signed an investment and cooperation agreement with the capital and the XIII district MBH Domo Kft. MBH Bank will participate in the project as owner and developer of the new headquarters of MBH Domo Kft., according to a statement from MBH Bank. The agreement will see a number of improvements to urban transport and livability in the immediate vicinity of the project.

Among others

  • the south-western exit of the Árpád Bridge underpass will be renewed and fully accessible,
  • a new surface pedestrian crossing will be built on Váci út,
  • and new cycling and pedestrian links will be created at new nodes in the Göncz Árpád city centre.

MBH Bank announced on 28 July 2023 that it will build a new sustainable headquarters in the XIII district of Budapest, at the corner of Róbert Károly körút and Váci út.

In the contract just signed, the parties have agreed on the further improvements that MBH Domo Kft. will make to the infrastructure in the area during the implementation of the project.

Among others

  • The south-western exit of the Árpád Bridge underpass will be completely renewed and made barrier-free: a new underpass section, barrier-free ramp, lift and outdoor stairs will be built, and the proportion of green space will be significantly increased, while the pavements will be replaced. This will make everyday transport easier for families with young children, the elderly and people with reduced mobility.
  • New on- and off-ramps are being built to the Árpád Bridge from Esztergom Road, creating an active cycling and pedestrian connection with Róbert Károly Boulevard. Cycle lanes will also be created in Dunavirág Street, and a pedestrian crossing will be built on Váci Street, adjacent to the accessible underpass exit.
  • Transport improvements are accompanied by green space reconstruction: the plan is to create a more welcoming and sustainable environment by installing circular green islands with automatic irrigation systems, planting ground cover plants and creating water points. In connection with the Árpád Bridge interchanges, the investor has also undertaken to develop a public park, which will be prepared through community planning to best serve the needs of the neighbourhood.

The entire metro line becomes barrier-free

One of the most important changes for the capital's residents is the complete accessibility of the metro exit. Thanks to the developments of recent years, the M3 metro line has become almost completely accessible, but the Göncz Árpád city centre underpass has been left out as a missing link.

Currently, the metro station has limited accessibility: from the platform towards the city centre, only the Pest-bound stop of tram 1 is accessible, and from the platform towards Újpest only the Buda-bound platform of tram 1 and the blocks on the eastern side of the junction.

The new underpass section, ramp and lift as part of the current project will eliminate this shortcoming, making all stations on the metro line accessible and comfortable for the travelling public.

The construction of the headquarters will enter a more visible phase in the second half of the year, when the building's structure will start to rise out of the ground.
