Starting with 20 employees, the Bács-Kiskun County company now employs nearly 1800 people; the HUF 11 billion investment has reached a milestone.

The new production hall Kft. of the Félegyházi Bakery in Kiskunfélegyáza has reached its highest point, according to a company statement. The Hungarian company, which has a 10 percent share of the domestic market, is expanding its premises with a new 9,000 square metre unit. The complete design and construction works of the project are being carried out by Előszer Kft., also based in kiskunfélegyháza.

Industrial cake line and robot trolleys help production

At the hall's inauguration ceremony, it was revealed that the nearly HUF 11 billion investment is the company's largest development to date.

This will increase the production area from the current 16,000 m2 to 25,000 m2. The new building will include a freezer warehouse with a capacity of 6,000 pallets, as well as preparation rooms, social blocks, canteens and offices to serve production.

The new plant will include four fully automatic industrial cake lines, modern kneading-freezing systems and automatic packaging machines. Innovative production is supported by robotic palletising and a semi-automatic shelving system in the freezer warehouse, using shuttle trolleys.

More than 200 million baked goods every year

At Thursday's inauguration ceremony, Gergő Gulyás, owner and managing director of Félegyházi Családi Päkség, said that this is the company's first truly greenfield investment. He recalled that he and his brother and parents have been building the two-generation business for many years.

He added that with the new capacity, the company will be able to double its current production of frozen pastries, with more than 200 million pieces of products - including cocoa snails, jam bags and cheese and curd scones - expected to leave the factory each year.

The development will create 200 new jobs, further strengthening the company's position in the domestic market and providing opportunities to expand exports to European markets. Production at the new plant is scheduled to start at the end of the year.

They started with twenty people and now employ nearly 1800

The event also revealed that the company has built a small solar power plant with an annual capacity of 1142 MWh, which will soon be operational. Thanks to this development, around 15% of the existing plant's electricity needs will be met from purely renewable sources. The energy investment has been made with the support of the National Investment Agency's Factory Saving Programme.

According to the announcement, the 100% Hungarian-owned Félegyházi Bakery Kft. started operations in 1999 with just 20 employees and today employs nearly 1800 people. Currently, they have 90 own shops in 38 cities in 7 counties and work with more than 500 reselling partners, including retail chains, catering companies and the Hungarian Defence Forces. Last year, the company's annual turnover exceeded HUF 34 billion, giving it a market share of more than 10% in the Hungarian market as the leading baking company.

The inauguration was attended by Sándor Lezsák, Vice President of the National Assembly and Member of the National Assembly of the region; Róbert Lenkei, Member of the Bács Kiskun County Assembly; László Balla, Deputy Mayor; and Jenő Ván, Member of the Municipality.
