What is being built?
Production will commence in the summer at the first facility of the Chinese Halms mega-investment in Miskolc.
The first production unit of the European automotive centre being built in Miskolc by Halms Hungary, part of the Chinese Huashuo Group, will start operating next summer, industrial property developer INPARK announced on Tuesday morning. As we reported in June reported in June, the development in Miskolc will cost HUF 80 billion.
As reported, INPARK moved nearly 30,000 cubic metres of earth and used more than 8,600 cubic metres of concrete and 54 kilometres of electrical wiring to build the automotive centre. In the Southern Science and Technology Park, INPARK will manufacture Halms aluminium castings and machined components for leading car brands and automotive suppliers such as Volvo and Magna.
100,000 square metre operations centre to be handed over by 2032
Medium and large high-pressure aluminium castings and machined components are used in automotive powertrains, transmission and structural systems. Only recycled aluminium will be used for production in Miskolc, with an investment of more than €200 million to be made in three phases by 2032, according to the announcement.
According to the announcement, the 100,000-square-metre plant being built in Miskolc will be capable of producing two million automotive components per year and is expected to provide jobs for a thousand people.
Halms built its automotive processing plant in Debrecen in 2023, where it mainly manufactures engine housings and automotive components from aluminium alloy. The owner of the company, the Huashuo Group, decided to relocate its manufacturing processes to Hungary in addition to its processing operations, establishing the group's European headquarters and production base in Miskolc.
Debrecen-based Halms Hungary Kft. generated net sales of €17.318 million last year, compared to €10.015 million in 2023. The company closed last year with a loss of €3.641 million and €2.650 million in 2023.
