What is being built?
The renewed camp in Káptalanfüred can help children in the capital recharge their batteries.
The children's camp owned by the local government of Józsefváros in the capital, located in Balatonalmádi-Káptalanfüred, is set to undergo significant development. The approximately 3.2-hectare area at 1 Somfa Street has been used for decades for the district's children's holiday camps, and the local government decided in 2015 to completely renovate the camp, according to a document uploaded to the local government's website document uploaded to the local government's website.
In order to prepare the plans, the local government has issued a call for tenders below the public procurement threshold procurement procedure for the design of the main building of the children's holiday camp in Kaptalanfüred.
The winning entry was submitted by the architectural firm Studio KRAFT in collaboration with Fejérdy és Bartók Építésziroda and Objekt Tájépítész Iroda, the company announced on its Facebook page.
The creative team defined the primary goal of the camp – in addition to community and leisure experiences – as providing children from the city centre with direct contact with nature.
They drew inspiration from classic tent camps, barn architecture in the Balaton Uplands, and local holiday home building traditions.
The camp's new main building may be completed
The design task includes the preparation of concept, permit and implementation plans for the camp's new main building and the surrounding park, as well as the planning of repairs to existing buildings and the completion of occupancy permit procedures.
According to the professional programme, the aim is to create a flexible, multifunctional building or complex of buildings that will primarily serve as a summer camp for children in Józsefváros, but will also be suitable for year-round operation.
There will also be communal areas, a kitchen and a dining room.
According to the plans, the main building will be a single-storey structure with a floor area of at least 1,000 square metres and a segmented appearance. Its mandatory functions include a minimum 300 square metre divisible community and sports space with adequate storage capacity, a main kitchen capable of producing 500 meals per day, and a dining room with a capacity of 150 people.
In addition, there will be separate wards for boys and girls with bathrooms, as well as offices and service rooms for camp management. The aim of the development is to ensure that the camp in Káptalanfüred provides a modern, safe and well-functioning environment for children in the long term.
