Following the demolition of the existing building, a block of flats comprising two blocks is set to be built on Kísérleti Street.

New staff accommodation may be built in Keszthely as part of a project by the Ministry of Transport and Investment – according to tender-értesítő.hu. As part of the project, following the demolition of the building at 10 Kísérleti Street, which previously served as a nursery, an 11-flat apartment block will be built on the 2,214-square-metre plot owned by the city.

Staff accommodation is required because a major problem in Keszthely is the shortage of staff and high staff turnover among those working in public services and community-based services. The staff shortage primarily affects the nursery, healthcare, social care and public administration sectors.

However, high property purchase and rental costs mean that the vacancies are not attractive to those wishing to move to the area for work. Furthermore, Keszthely local authority only has rental properties; it has no properties operating as staff accommodation, and the rental properties are allocated on a social basis; furthermore, the rental housing stock is currently at full capacity.

Flats are being built in two blocks

According to the plans, the total net floor area of the new apartment block will be 864.43 square metres. The building will consist of a ground floor, a first floor and an attic, and will feature a gabled roof constructed using monolithic reinforced concrete floor slabs.

The project involves the construction of two separate building blocks. The northern block will primarily house smaller flats, whilst the southern section will feature larger, three-room flats.

Four flats are being built on the ground floor, two of which will be smaller and two larger in size. A further four flats will be created on the first floor, whilst the attic will house three flats. Most of the flats will also have a covered terrace.

As part of the development, shared storage areas and plant rooms will also be built.

Car parks and green spaces are also being developed

As part of the development, a total of 11 parking spaces will be created on the site for the flats.

The project also places an emphasis on landscaping. The plans include the creation of a bird-friendly garden, rain gardens and a stormwater retention basin.

The ground-floor flats each have their own private garden areas, separated from one another by hedges. In addition, five leafy trees will be planted on the site for every staff flat built.
