Almost football – The former sports swimming pool in Veszprém is being converted into a futsal training hall
Although the world’s attention is currently focused on the World Cup, we have some good news for futsal fans here at home too. This much faster-paced and more technical version of football, played by teams of five, may soon have a new venue.
The local council of Veszprém is converting the former sports swimming pool on Március 15. Street into a futsal hall with an investment of nearly 955 million forints. The work may be carried out by VEMÉV-SZER Építő- és Szerelőipari Kft and Diorit Partner Kft. – according to the notice at kozbeszerzes.hu notice.
The project is being carried out as part of the construction programme for the Hungarian Football Association’s National Futsal Training Centre, with 100 per cent funding from the MLSZ programme.
The aim of the development is to build a state-of-the-art sports hall on the site of the former swimming pool, designed to meet the needs of futsal and other indoor sports.
The total value of the project is 954,676,177 forints.
The former sports swimming pool is to be given a new purpose
The project is being carried out at the sports hall complex situated on the property at 5 Március 15. utca, Veszprém. The development concerns the former swimming pool located in the western part of the building, which had previously been closed due to its poor technical condition and the high costs of refurbishment.
The city’s aim is to retain the facility’s existing sporting function; therefore, following the refurbishment, the facility will primarily serve to promote the professional development of futsal and the training of young players, whilst also providing space for other indoor sports.
A state-of-the-art futsal hall is being built
As part of the project, a 20×40-metre futsal pitch with a total area of 800 square metres is being built, which will be fitted with specialised, reinforced sports parquet flooring across its entire surface. The hall will also feature seating for 75 spectators and pitch lighting with an intensity of 700 lux.
As part of the project, the following main rooms and functions will be realised:
- men’s, women’s and accessible toilet facilities (48.31 m²),
- four changing rooms with toilets and showers (144.72 m²),
- referees’ changing room with its own toilet facilities (35.28 m²),
- store and storage rooms (160.82 m²),
- plant rooms (165.36 m²),
- meeting room and operations office,
- doctor’s surgery,
- as well as circulation areas.
The successful contractors are responsible not only for carrying out the construction work, but also for preparing the detailed design documentation on the basis of the available planning permission drawings. In addition, they must prepare the as-built documentation.
