Two more villages along the Ráckeve-Danube soon to be linked by a cycle lane
In the south-western part of Dunaharaszti, on Fő út (main road 510) between Király utca and Nyárfás utca in Taksony, the local council is carrying out an expansion for cyclists as part of the KM Építő Kft. As part of the Dunaharaszti local government's investment, it is acting as a member of the Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. consortium due to the involvement of the main road. The bicycle development is part of the TOP_PLUSZ-1.2.1-21 code number, „Liveable Settlements” call for proposals, under grant agreement number TOP_PLUSZ-1.2.1-21-PT1-2022-00013, entitled „Improving Cycling in the Town of Dunaharaszti”, with the support of the European Union.
The Ráckevei-Duna is becoming increasingly popular with cyclists, with beautiful, densely vegetated natural surroundings and riverside beaches almost a stone's throw from the capital. Recognising this, the decision was taken to improve transport facilities for people living in the area and for those who want to relax by connecting the two main towns in the region by bicycle.
In mid-July this year, the contractor's experts took over the roughly one kilometre-long work area.
The project also includes road, traffic and water works, as the area will not only see the widening of the main road, but also the construction of new pavements and the conversion of parking areas.
The Király Street pedestrian crossing is being rebuilt
Terraced houses, shops and leafy, wooded green spaces line the north-east-south-west axis of the road running parallel to the Little Danube, where 450 metres of pavement widening and waterworks are currently underway in the suburban part of Dunaharaszti. In addition to the widening of the main road, the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Király utca will be rebuilt and a B+R covered bicycle storage area with ten spaces will be constructed. The construction will also include the construction of a new
- planting 12 trees and
- planting 140 cycling-friendly perennial plants,
- at the same time, nests will be built in 5 of the trees planted.
According to the data provided to us
- 745 m3 a protective layer of sandy gravel,
- 590m3 CKt-4 hydraulic binder casing sheet and
- around 1,370 tonnes of asphalt mix are needed for the project,
- in which nearly 705 m2 paving stones are built.
