Planning of the Karcag bypass and the expressway to Jászberény can start

At TED, the results of the three public design tenders in preparation for major road improvements were announced. According to the notice, the contracts signed on 3 October

• the design of the Karcag eastern bypass road UVATERV Út-, Vasúttervező Zrt.;
• the design of the Karcag regional modification of the M4 on the UTIBER Közúti Beruházó Kft.;
• while Via Futura Kft., SPECIÁLTERV Kft. and UNITEF’83 Zrt. can carry out the design of the four-lane widening of the 32 motorway between the M3 motorway and Jászberény.

Nearly 10 kilometres of new main road under construction

According to the text of the public procurement, the eastern bypass of Karcag is to prepare the section of road 3401 (Madarasi road from Karcag to Kunmadaras) between Karcag and the M4. The bypass will be created as a two-lane main road on a new track for at least 9.5 km.

The planning should also include the renovation and extension of the Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. engineering site in Kisújszállás. The project will also detail the expected intersections and structures, including a bridge spanning a railway and a road, with an expected superstructure length of 118.8 metres. In addition, a separate level junction will be built.

The second sub-project of the public procurement concerns the section of the M4 expressway between Kisújszállás (East) and Püspökladány, which is being built as part of project Duna Aszfalt Projekt Zrt. Törökszentmiklós-Kisújszállás section will be continued in the future. According to the announcement, the subject of the planning is the section of the M4 motorway affecting the Karcag area. The task here is to prepare the approval plans and obtain the building permits for the new route, which is to be planned for a length of at least 19 km. „The existing building permit needs to be amended in accordance with the newly prepared plans,” the summary states.

Among other things, three separate junctions are to be planned on this section of the M4, the most important of which is the junction at the 4206 road from Karcag to Füzesgyarmarmat. A 3-span, 87.20-metre-long prefabricated bridge girder structure is expected to be built over the 4206 road and the Karcag I canal. In addition, five underpasses and six overpasses will be constructed.

Jászberény expressway to be built partly on a new route

The third sub-project detailed in the procurement is the widening of the 32 motorway to four lanes between the M3 motorway and Jászberény. The planned road will be 24 km long, including

• will be created by extending the existing track for 9 km from the initial junction;
• will then follow a new route for 14 km;
• finally, the design of 11.5 tonnes of pavement reinforcement over 1 km before Jászberény is required.

The project includes the crossing of the Hatvan-Szolnok railway line No 82, the renovation and extension of the Magyar Közút site in Jászberény, the construction of an axle weight measuring station and two separate level junctions.
