The 90-tonne bridge girder was lifted in three pieces on the M1 motorway.

Demolition work has begun on the bridges spanning the M1 motorway, according to Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. According to the company's social media post, demolition has begun on the bridge over the motorway that serves as the Páty motorway access road, marked as road 1134 (Szent József Street).

The demolition of the structure located in the immediate vicinity of the Sasfészek Lake rest area and junction began on Thursday night and continued into Friday morning.

During the night, the 90-tonne beam was lifted out in three pieces and transported away from the site. They write that the bridge will not be completely demolished: only the demolition work necessary for reconstruction and widening will be carried out. The demolition is necessary so that the bridge can be widened in cross-section and so that the 2×3+ITS lane to be built during the expansion can fit on it.

First, the side leading towards the capital widens.

Bridge demolition work is currently taking place on the side leading to the capital, with the parts of the structure not used by traffic being cut and lifted out. The track will naturally widen first on this side. It was emphasised that in order to minimise disruption to traffic on the road crossing the track, the demolition work was carried out at night.

In addition to the demolition work in Páty, bridge construction necessary for the expansion of the M1 motorway is also underway: a total of 72 crossings are being rebuilt or reconstructed. Most recently, at Óbarok near Bicske (at kilometre 44 of the motorway) the first elements of the new bridge under construction were lifted into place.
