Bridge and crossing construction tasks also require formwork, as shown in the photos of the MKIF.

The M1 motorway construction project has released a new work log and gallery at MKIF – Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. has posted another work log and gallery on the construction of the M1 motorway on Facebook page. They explain that, in addition to bridge construction, the expansion work also includes embankment foundation and construction work, as well as so-called sheet piling work.

There are several bridges on the section to be expanded that require this technique to be widened. This solution serves the purpose of keeping the embankment strong during the demolition and reconstruction of the bridge.

Sheet piling is a method used in civil engineering where steel sheets (also known as sheet piles) are driven into the ground to reinforce the soil or form a watertight wall.

As reported by MKIF, the photos now published were taken on Torbágyi Road, which connects Biatorbágy and Páty. This road is expected to be partially opened to traffic by the end of April 2026, which means that from spring onwards, traffic will be able to travel here in alternating directions on a single lane controlled by traffic lights.

During the extension of the M1, the section between the M0 and Bicske will be completed by the end of August 2028, and the section up to the Concó rest area in the Bábolna region will be completed by the end of August 2029, after which the development will continue. The 78 km of motorway 1 will be widened to 2×3 lanes, plus one intelligent stop lane per side to be used as a full lane. This will allow up to 2×4 lanes between Budapest and Győr.
