Railway development
Train services between Veszprém and Ajka will resume from 30 May
Almost exactly a month ago we last reported on the long-awaited renovation of the troubled section of the Veszprém–Ajka railway line. As revealed in a recent statement by the CEO of the MÁV Group, the experts at Swietelsky Vasúttechnika Kft. experts.
Our photo gallery was taken on 21 May, whilst the Swietelsky Vasúttechnika ballast tamping machine was in operation. As can be seen from the photos, following the consolidation of the ballast, the track laying was completed a week ago. The finishing work carried out since then can now be followed by the commissioning process.
Trains will be running from 30 May
As Zsolt Hegyi wrote on his social media page: „The restoration of the railway section between Veszprém and Ajka has reached another important milestone: a test train has been running on the refurbished line.”.
The test run is a key technical inspection carried out prior to the resumption of services, which confirms that the upgraded track is ready for the return of services. As a result,
The commissioning process begins tomorrow, and from 30 May trains will once again run along the entire route between Veszprém and Ajka.
On this line, the track operator is already GYSEV, but passenger trains are operated by MÁV.
The track speed is being increased gradually, and by the peak summer season, trains will be able to run here without any speed restrictions. Minor finishing works will continue over the coming period, but these will no longer disrupt services.
