The phase now underway involves laying the foundations for the new columns and the construction of the associated temporary traffic engineering.

The preparatory works related to the curb correction and column installation, as well as the material testing on the Kós Károly promenade overpasses in the so-called Zoo Delta trolleybus network development have been completed, the Budapest Transport Centre announced.

The next phase of the Kacsóh Pongrác út-Állatkerti körút-Hermina út junction in District XIV will start with the laying of the foundations for the new columns and the construction of the associated temporary traffic engineering, while all pavements and road lanes will remain passable.

As we have previously reported in detail reported in detail earlier, the project uses the BKK

  • renovate the trolleybus overhead line, install new interchanges at the hub;
  • will build a new overhead line, which will allow trolleybuses coming from Kacsóh Pongrác út to turn onto Állatkerti körút (and in the opposite direction);
  • installing new overhead line supports and street lighting columns, while replacing luminaires and arms to modernise street lighting and create a coherent streetscape;
  • install multifunctional columns to minimise the amount of space taken up by public space;
  • and also carries out accessibility work.

In addition, the direction and height of the trolleybus route has been set at a level that will only slightly affect existing trees and the necessary works will not damage the green area.

The construction work will inevitably involve temporary traffic changes - lane closures during peak hours, minor traffic restrictions or closures during off-peak hours - and there will be short periods during the works when the 74 trolleybus will be diverted. Details of the changes to public transport and the modified route will be provided by BKK.

The purpose of the upgrade is also described: by upgrading the overhead network, the BKK will ensure that trolleybuses can run more reliably on today's network and use their self-propelled capability in areas where there is no overhead line.
