More modern heating awaits visitors to the trauma unit in Pécs
The winner of the conditional public procurement procedure for the renovation of the Traumatology Centre of the University of Pécs has been announced. VivaPalazzo Zrt. will carry out the energy modernisation of the PTE Clinical Centre's Akác Street site at a cost of more than HUF 720 million, according to EU public procurement.
The facility treats 56,000 outpatients and 7,000 inpatients annually from the entire South Transdanubia region, making heating supply extremely important for the facility, the University of Pécs, and indeed the entire region.
„The goal is to achieve a ”nearly zero-energy building" classification.
As part of the energy modernisation programme, the entire site's heating system would be replaced, replacing the current outdated mixed-fuel boiler.
The entire building complex would switch to modern, biomass-based district heating, i.e. from a renewable energy source, which would be supplied by PÉTÁV Pécsi Távfűtő Kft..
PÉTÁV Kft. undertook to construct the district heating pipeline required for heat supply up to the property boundary, while PTE undertook to construct three heating centres capable of receiving district heating within the property boundary.
In addition, as part of the investment
- retrofit façade and roof insulation,
- replacement of window and door glazing,
- Modernisation of 1,738 light fixtures to LED light sources,
- and mechanical automation will be installed.,
which achieves a DD energy rating of BB, i.e. a „nearly zero-energy building” rating, and a CO₂ emission reduction of more than 30%.
The renovation would affect both wings of the building.
During the works, the department will continue to receive patients, so the renovation must be carried out with as little disruption to patients as possible.
The announcement also reveals that the renovation, which is primarily for energy efficiency purposes, will affect both wings of the emergency care complex. The east and west wings have a total floor area of 9,156 square metres. In the case of the west wing, 108 windows and doors may be replaced, and the facades may be thermally insulated and the flat roofs may be thermally and waterproofed.
Roof insulation will be installed on the west wing of the building, covering an area of approximately 1,639 square metres, which includes both waterproofing and thermal insulation. The thermal insulation of the eastern wing's façade will cover approximately 1,506 square metres. In addition, the thermal insulation of the façade and the replacement of the glazing of the designated windows and doors are also planned in the eastern wing.
