A large city in Partium has received major transport improvements

In Timisoara, which has seven tram lines in total, the tram network is constantly being upgraded, with a major section of tram line 4 being renewed.

Timisoara's tram line 4 along Cetății Boulevard has been significantly upgraded, iho.hu reports, citing Railway Pro.The upgrade, worth 110.8 million lei (8.2 billion forints at current exchange rates), has seen the reconstruction of 3.51 kilometres of tram tracks, the modernisation of nine stops and the creation of 2.88 kilometres of cycle paths.

Five new bicycle sharing points and a traffic management system have been installed. According to the mayor of Timisoara, the improvement of transport in the city of Timisoara was financed with European funds. The objectives of the project include increasing the average speed of traffic, reducing operating, maintenance and repair costs, improving traffic safety, passenger comfort and environmental parameters affected by public transport, as well as reducing the time and cost of passenger transport.

Timisoara's trams 4 and 7 currently carry a total of six and a half million passengers a year, with trains making nearly 16,000 journeys.

The T5 line was recently inaugurated after seven years of work

Located in the west of Romania, the city has a relatively well-developed tram network, with a total of seven tram lines in operation and constantly being upgraded. In 2019, the municipality bought sixteen new low-floor trams from Bozankaya in Turkey, at a cost of €33 million (nearly 12.5 billion forints). The framework contract also allows for the optional purchase of a further twenty-four vehicles, bringing the total value of the investment to €80 million (HUF 30 billion), of which seventeen thirty-metre-long trams were ordered in January this year for €33 million.

The T5 line was recently inaugurated after seven years of work, the upgrading of the Cetății Boulevard section of Line 4 has just been completed, and the modernisation of the Stan Vidrighin Boulevard section is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
