Bound track
Planning work can start on the comprehensive development of the Gödöllő and Csömör HÉV
According to the announcement published in the European Union Public Procurement Bulletin (TED) call for tenders published in the European Union's Public Procurement Bulletin (TED), the project involves the reconstruction of 27 km of the H8 and H9 HÉV lines, including the electrification of 2 km of the H9 line.
The aim of the development is to prepare a competitive, barrier-free urban-suburban high-speed rail system that will improve transport in the eastern agglomeration settlements of Pest County and the districts of Budapest X, XIV and XVI.
The procurement covers the design tasks, which include: the review of the study design, feasibility and environmental study, the preparation of the full set of permit design documentation and the full set of construction design documentation, as well as the preparation of the procurement documents for the construction.
Transfers between metro and HÉV are planned
According to the notice, the project's schedulability and the transfer possibilities between metro and HÉV should be planned.
The design will require the creation of several separate levels of intersections, including a large structure that will span across Örs vezér tere.
Based on the data currently included in the documents to be reviewed in the public procurement documentation, the tasks include the design of an 80-metre railway bridge in this area. The project also includes the design of related facilities, public utility replacements, P+R car parks and transformer stations. As is well known, preparations for the connection of the M2 metro and the Gödöllő HÉV were already underway in 2021 decision was made in 2021.
The stations of the M2 metro line would be made barrier-free
As part of the project, the M2 metro line will include the complete redevelopment and design of nine stations and stops. The planning will include an assessment of the usability of the Cinkota depot and a review of the need for a possible new depot.
The Gödöllő and Csömör lines may be joined
Part of the design is the physical connection of the H8 (Gödöllő) and H9 (Csömör) HÉV lines. The technical feasibility of the link, its traffic options and its impact on vehicle operation and timetable structure will be assessed in detail. The designers shall present the alternatives for the realisation of the link in a technically substantiated manner and propose the optimal technical solution.
With the Hungaroring?
During the planning process, the development of the Hungaroring stop was also identified as a target. The study should also demonstrate the feasibility of the stop, its expected occupancy, traffic connections, and scheduling and passenger flow management solutions for the event periods.
The work is preparatory to implementation and only prepares the plans and studies necessary for implementation. The design task also includes assistance in the building permit procedure. The deadline for submission of tenders is 18 September.
