Attention Hungarian companies! How to get into the Paks II project
Gergely Jákli gave a presentation on the status of the Paks II project and the opportunities it offers at the extended meeting of the Építési Vállalkozók Országos Szakszövetsége (ÉVOSZ) Building Construction Section – as can be read on the official website of the Paks II investment project.
The CEO of Paks II stressed that he urges everyone to start the work needed to become a supplier in the nuclear power plant construction market. He then went on to explain in detail why the two new nuclear units are necessary, how the technology was selected and where construction is now.

Qualification procedure for companies competing in tenders
The subcontractors will be tendered by Atomsztrojexport, a subsidiary of Roszatom. This follows the known protocols for international contracting, so it is useful for a company to have experience in this. In addition, nuclear qualification is necessary," said the CEO.
"Before signing a contract, we will conduct an audit similar to ISO certification, during which the company must prove that its quality control and documentation processes meet all the requirements", he explained.
With this certification, the company demonstrates that it is prepared for this task in terms of process management and document management. This certification is a good reference in the European Union.
Many new nuclear power plants are being built across Europe
Gergely Jákli also explained why he is encouraging all possible actors to act: nuclear power plants are being built in several countries in Europe today and many states are planning new units or lifetime extensions. In Poland, six units will be built and contracts will be signed shortly, in France there are more than 50 units in operation, with lifetime extensions and dozens of new units planned, in the UK the expansion of Hinkley Point is under way, while the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, the Netherlands and Sweden are planning to build new nuclear power plants.
In the near future, a very large market will open up for the domestic construction industry, so it is worth developing in this direction, investing time and energy in this, the CEO said.
In a previous article, the CEO of Roszatom said: the investment is being accelerated, with 140 Hungarian suppliers currently working on the construction site. The number of employees will increase as construction progresses, and according to their calculations, 2,000 people will be working on the Paks investment in 2024.
