Another hotel to be built at the capital's airport
Construction of a new hotel has begun at Liszt Ferenc Airport in cooperation with Budapest Airport, according to a press release from the property developer WING.
Located within walking distance of Terminal 2 entrance, opened in 2018, premium ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel, which opened in 2018, the new TRIBE is being built with 167 rooms and a floor area of 8,000 square metres.
The structural work on the hotel is being carried out by SWIETELSKY Magyarország Kft., and the groundwork has already begun.
Conference centre and skybar to be built
The TRIBE is expected to be inaugurated in 2025, with the hotel offering, in addition to the services for travellers
- a 150-seat conference room and two meeting rooms will be available;
- and a fitness room on the top floor (7th floor);
- and a skybar offering a view from above.
The new hotel building continues the development of WING and Market Építő Zrt. implementation of ibis Styles Hotel character facade solutions, and the two buildings will be connected based on the visual designs.
The TRIBE is designed by Aspectus Architect. In terms of interior design, the TRIBE marks a new direction, departing from the existing, clean interior design of the ibis Styles, based on the Ester’s Partners design. The hotel is being designed with sustainability in mind; it will be one of the first BREEAM certified hotels in Hungary.
Significant expansion of airport infrastructure
"The existing ibis Styles and the newly built TRIBE will operate in direct connection, and the combination will be an important milestone in the life of the airport, further expanding the airport infrastructure. The number of available rooms will more than double and the additional quality amenities will enable the airport to meet a higher level of guest demand"said Noah Steinberg, CEO of WING.
"For Budapest Airport, it is of utmost importance to provide passengers with quality services; to this end, we are continuously developing the airport in cooperation with our partners and through joint thinking. The need to expand the services and capacities available at the airport and its surroundings is growing in line with the increasing passenger traffic, which is why we are delighted to welcome the new hotel, which will fit in well with our Terminal 3 project and form part of our Airport City development" - René Droese, Deputy Chief Development Officer of Budapest Airport, emphasised.
Development coordinated with long-term plans
Budapest Airport's long-term development plans include not only the expansion of the passenger terminal, but also the related infrastructure and services. The airport operator has designed the plans in such a way that a hotel building can be built next to the first hotel. The area for the hotel expansion is integrated with the planned multi-storey car park, the central intermodal hub and the Airport City development, which will include additional office buildings.
