Pécs-Pogány aircraft factory expands, foundation stone laid

A major development has started in the county seat of Pécs, with a ground-breaking ceremony held on 5 April for the new production hall of the Magnus Aircraft Zrt. project for the manufacture of composite aircraft. The facility is being built as part of the company's six-billion-forint development project.

At the event, László Boros, the company's CEO, said that as part of the development, a 500-kilowatt solar park will be built next to the 1,500-square-metre production hall.

The Fusion II. two-seater is well established in the market, used for training, observation and individual purposes. For the production of the four-seat aircraft, the IL-103 aircraft licence was purchased, a 3D model of the original design was created, redesigned to a fully composite structure and the production technology process was developed.

A four-seater aircraft will also be produced

Minister of Finance Mihály Varga stressed that the hangar, where four-seater aircraft of his own development will be produced, could be "one of the jewels of the Hungarian economy".

He noted that the company's two-seat aircraft are in demand worldwide, and added that a four-seat small aircraft is being added to the product range, with an electric version in the pipeline.

He stressed that the development will also contribute to the strengthening of the defence industry, with the new Magnus aircraft providing an expanding international market.

Founded in 2014, Magnus Aircraft employed eighty people last year; in 2022, it will have a net turnover of HUF 538 million. The company announced half last year that it expects a positive break-even by 2023, and positive earnings with exponentially growing revenue this year and in the following years.
