What is being built?
Gateway to the Danube
It is also rare in Europe to see a riverside rust belt transformed into a residential area dotted with promenades. This has been the case in the riverfront of the XIIIth district, where the Foka Bay and the promenade running alongside it, linked to the residential buildings built there, offer a direct experience of being connected to the waterfront. Duna Terasz Vista is built in the Danube lane of the XIII district, so many of its apartments will have a panoramic view of the Danube, and its architecture will be inspired by the undulating façade and the gates on the bay.
Close links with the Danube
The new residential building of the XIII district consists of two blocks and a 15-metre-high, almost floating section of a building connecting them, whose distinctive appearance is defined by the rhythmic balconies that lead the waves of the Danube and the ships of the bay up to the façade.
The 632 flats will be built with practical floor plans and high-quality construction – among other things, ceiling cooling and heating will provide a pleasant temperature for residents. The plans for the apartment building being built as part of the D&B Real-Estate Invesment Kft. investment and the promenade running along its axis were drawn up by Fazakas Építésziroda, while the construction is being carried out by DVM Group is responsible for the construction, and Ádám Mérnökiroda is the technical supervisor.
Eight staircases have been added to the basement, ground floor and nine storey buildings, which have a floor area of 74,500 m2 and a useful floor area of 37,200 m2. The contractor DVM took possession of the site in January, with delivery expected in July 2026. Four huge pillars are part of the complex
- we learnt from Balázs Sasvári, DVM's construction manager.
MEVA experts asked to help with special tasks
„We had to lift circular pillars, each 80 centimetres in diameter and 15 metres high, to open the gate, which was a real challenge, as it also involved constructing a 550 m² floor slab with bottom ribs at the same height,” summarised Botond Lachmann, chief engineer of MEVA Zsalurendszerek Zrt., describing the most interesting parts of the project.
For the construction of the standard condominium blocks, Peter Builder Kft. used its own proprietary formwork, for which it rented a small amount of special formwork elements; however, the piers and the bridge-like supported slab required a different solution than usual.
The personal presence of formwork technologists was needed
"For the design and provision of the formwork, Peter Builder Kft. called on the services of MEVA. After personal consultation and coordinated work, the formwork plans were drawn up and the on-site formwork work could begin," said Botond Lachmann. As he explained:
„The 14.5-metre-high circular columns CIRCO formwork significantly accelerated the construction work and ensured the correct shape of the columns. Of course, this dangerous construction task, carried out at great heights, required exceptional discipline in terms of construction and work safety. The concreting of the first pillar and its removal from the formwork two days later confirmed the correctness of the chosen technology, as the elements of the supporting structure were completed to an outstanding standard. Thus, the next three pillars could be built with the same disciplined execution, but with much less excitement. After formwork removal, the completed pillars were protected from accidental damage and collisions with a TRIPLEX SB support system.
The bottom formwork of the beams, we learned from the chief engineer, was supported by an ID15 shoring system, while the loads between the beams were carried by MT60 towers.
The formwork of the slab was therefore not an ordinary task either: a monolithic slab with overhanging beams was built due to the large spans; the beams and the slab walls were supported separately.
When designing the slab formwork, the designers had to take into account the three reinforced concrete slabs built on top of each other, which had to be supported until the load-bearing capacity of each slab was reached. Naturally, the 14.5 metre long supporting scaffolding had to bear the greatest load and its accuracy was checked several times by MEVA before concreting.
