Among other things, a humus mound will reduce noise and waste heat recycling will reduce the environmental impact of the new WLP building.

The Belgian-Hungarian owned Weerts Logistics Park (WLP) has handed over a sustainable production hall of almost 40,000 square meters in Vecsés, using environmentally friendly technologies. The plant will be used by Magna International of Canada, one of the world's largest suppliers of automotive components.

Waste heat from the plant's machines is integrated into the heating system

According to Weerts Logistics, the investment cost more than €57 million, plus Magna's investment in production equipment. The production hall will remain the property of Weerts and Magna will lease it on a long-term basis.

WLP mentioned rainwater recycling and energy efficient systems as examples of outstanding sustainability solutions. Waste heat from the facility's machinery is integrated into the heating system, and a solar panel system is being installed over the entire roof surface to ensure full green energy supply for the operation. The company is continuously monitoring the environment to ensure that the operation of the plant does not cause environmental damage, they said.

Noise reduction was solved with a hummus dome

The WLP has also indicated that particular attention will be paid to building good neighbourly relations with the local community and to taking into account the needs of the population. As a noise reduction measure, a humus mound has been built and planted with trees and shrubs. This natural solution is not only more effective than traditional sound barriers, but also helps to maintain biodiversity.

The company explained that the location of the plant is particularly advantageous from a strategic point of view, with direct access to the M0, M3, M4 and M5 motorways, and the proximity of Liszt Ferenc International Airport is an additional logistical advantage. In addition, it is easily accessible from Vecsés, Gyál and the XVIII district of Budapest, which facilitates recruitment from these areas.

Production of the first parts is expected to start at the end of 2025.

They also have an investment underway near Debrecen

The announcement also revealed that the WLP development group develops halls in Vecses for medium and large companies. Over the past 6 years, it has built around 200,000 square metres of buildings, created 905 jobs and has hosted a number of domestic companies.

WLP is also implementing a greenfield investment in the Ebes area near Debrecen: near Debrecen Airport and the BMW factory currently under construction the buildings of the complex being constructed under the Market Építő Zrt. project are being designed specifically for large logistics companies.

Weerts Logistics Park already has over 1 million square metres of high-tech logistics investments in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, the UK and Italy.
