Nine of the 13 buildings at the Révfülöp camp will be demolished to make way for new functions.

The Mathias Corvinus Collegium camp in Révfülöp is being renovated and expanded in an investment worth more than HUF 12.7 billion: the general construction work has been awarded to Magyar Építő Zrt. and PHAROS ’95 Sportpályaépítő Kft. .

The aim of the project is to establish a training centre on the shores of Lake Balaton that will operate all year round and will also be suitable for hosting large student and youth camps during the summer period.

Complex development, significant accommodation capacity to be built

According to the public procurement notice, the development, covering an area of approximately 107,000 square metres, will include landscaping and garden design work, as well as the construction of new accommodation, sports facilities and service units.

As part of the project, a significant portion of the existing buildings will be modernised, while nine of the 13 buildings will be demolished to make room for new functions. The camp will have a total accommodation capacity of 349 beds, and the total usable floor space of the buildings will reach 6,500 square metres.

The development will also strengthen community and educational infrastructure: an agora for outdoor performances, open-plan office space, and sports fields and clearings suitable for team games will be created. In addition, the existing kitchen and restaurant building will be modernised so that the centre can also cater for large events and camps.

The marina and boathouse have already been closed.

The development in Révfülöp is not without precedent: in the previous phase, the 2F-Bau Kft. and GB Group Kft. consortium modernised the sailing marina and boathouse, and a modern community pavilion was also built. The special feature of the latter is that it was built using CLT panel technology, i.e. a quickly constructed and environmentally friendly structure consisting of cross-laminated timber elements.

A national open design competition was announced in 2022 for the architectural plans of the project. The entries UNITEF’83 Zrt. and A Fiúk Építész Stúdió Kft. shared first place, and the judging panel ultimately recommended the latter for further development.

With the implementation of this new investment phase, the Révfülöp centre could become one of the key training and community venues of Mathias Corvinus Collegium on the shores of Lake Balaton in the long term.
