A swimming pool is being built in Kőszeg; the existing facility is to be demolished

The Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium announced the results of the Kőszeg swimming pool – as reported on TED. The design and construction work for the project will be carried out by a consortium comprising VEMÉV-SZER Építő- és Szerelőipari Kft. and LATEREX Építő Zrt..

The total value of the contract is 1,507,262,625 billion forints.

The project consists of two main parts: the demolition of the existing swimming pool and the design and construction of a new, state-of-the-art swimming facility.

The current swimming pool is to be demolished

During the first phase of the project, the existing swimming pool and changing rooms located on plot no. 1991 within the town centre of Kőszeg will be completely demolished.

The swimming pool building has a usable floor area of 1,075 square metres, plus a further 159 square metres of basement space. The changing room building has a floor area of over 320 square metres, bringing the total usable floor area of the buildings to be demolished to nearly 1,555 square metres.

Prior to the start of construction, the necessary demolition permits and construction plans will be drawn up, and consultations with the relevant authorities and specialist bodies will be carried out. During the works, the utility networks will be dismantled and the site will be cleared.

A three-storey swimming pool is being built

As part of the second phase of the development, a new swimming pool is to be built on plot no. 2057 within the town of Kőszeg.

The project involves the construction of a TTT2-type teaching pool. (The acronym TTT stands for the National Public Education Infrastructure Programme, under which gyms, teaching pools and schools are being built or renovated.)

The new facility will be a three-storey building. The basement will house the plumbing systems, the ground floor will contain the entrance hall, ticket office, changing rooms and pool area, whilst the attic will house the ventilation equipment.

There are two swimming pools available for swimming lessons

The new swimming pool complex will feature a 15×25-metre swimming pool with a depth of 1.9 metres, as well as a 6×10-metre teaching pool with a depth of 0.8 metres.

The swimming pool has a water surface area of 375 square metres and the teaching pool 60 square metres, bringing the total water surface area to 435 square metres.

The facility will have a usable floor area of 1,311.8 square metres.

The project is being implemented using a BIM-based design

The winning consortium is responsible not only for the design and construction of the swimming pool complex, but also for the associated roads, car parks, landscaped areas and utilities.

The complete set of planning and construction drawings has been produced using BIM.

In addition to the construction of the indoor swimming pool, the project also includes the installation of swimming pool technology systems, landscaping work and the installation of external utility connections.
