After almost a decade, the future of one of Dunakeszi’s key areas is finally being decided: the local council has announced plans to build a car park with nearly 200 spaces on the site of the Blue School, which was demolished in 2016 the local council. Many people in this city on the Danube surely have fond memories of the area opposite the two prefabricated blocks on Iskola Street: the Lajos Bárdos Primary School operated here from 1973 right up until 2011. However, in its final years, the building had become so dangerous that the pupils of the school – named by locals after its distinctive colour – eventually had to be moved to another building.

The building was demolished in 2016, but until recently the site had simply been used by locals as a gravel-covered, empty car park. The development project, which has just got underway, is being carried out under contract Penta Kft. and will result in a well-organised, enclosed car park with three price categories, equipped with lighting and CCTV.

In the spirit of recycling, the asphalt milled up during works on Rév út – another project in Dunakeszi – is being used for the road base, which also represents a significant saving for the town.
