Petrucz Transz Kft. is to construct the new cycle path, nearly 850 metres long, in Napkoron, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. The contractor must complete the project, with a net investment of 40.5 million forints, in just two months.

As part of the Local Council of Napkor’s active tourism development programme, a new cycle path is being built in the town – according to the Public Procurement Bulletin. The notice revealed that there was fierce competition for the contract: a total of 17 companies submitted tenders for the work. The contract was ultimately awarded to Petrucz Transz Szolgáltató Kft., based in Nyírbátor, with a bid of 40.527 million forints net. The contract was signed on 2 July.

The new route runs alongside Road 4102

The 849-metre-long cycle path will be built alongside the 4102-numbered connecting road, on its right-hand side. An existing earth-filled drainage ditch runs between the main road and the new cycle path; this will be cleared and restored as part of the construction works. The winning contractor’s tasks therefore include not only laying the new surface but also improving drainage along the route.

A stronger track structure is being built at the access points

The layer structure of the cycle path must be constructed as follows: a 15-centimetre-thick cement-bound base course laid on top of a 20-centimetre-thick bed of sandy gravel, followed by two layers of asphalt, each 3.5 centimetres thick. A reinforced structure is used at gateways, at crossings with dirt tracks and at road junctions: at these points, the thickness of the cement-bound base is increased to 20 centimetres. The asphalt surface is bordered by a recessed garden kerb, with kerbs 50 centimetres wide on either side.

The contractor was given two months to complete the work

The local authority must hand over the worksite within a maximum of eight days of the contract being signed. From that point, the contractor has two months to complete the cycle path.
The project is linked to the TOP Plusz local and regional tourism development programme. The programme’s objectives include, amongst other things, the development of local and regional tourism infrastructure; the project being implemented at Napkoron will improve conditions for cycling as part of active tourism.
Petrucz Transz has been active in the domestic civil engineering sector since December 2014. They have participated in numerous major projects, the majority of which involved the construction of cycle paths, but they have also played a role in motorway construction.
