Road building
The construction of the main road 83 connecting Győr with Pápa is nearing completion
We are constantly monitoring the construction of the 83 motorway connecting Győr with Pápa. The 36-kilometre-long 2×2 lane new track project is being built in two phases by Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium:
- on the 18.4 km between Pápa and Tét del junction, 15 structures and two separate level crossings, as well as a railway overpass, are being built on the road linking Pápa airport. The contractor for the section is Duna Aszfalt Zrt., EuroAsfalt Kft. is participating as a subcontractor.
- On the 17.6 km section between the Tét-dél junction and Győr, eight structures and four separate level junctions will be built (Tét-dél, Tét-north, Győrszemere, Koroncó). This section is being built by Soltút Kft., with the Colas Group as subcontractor.
Weather conditions make construction difficult
Peter Szabó, the project manager of the Duna Aszfalt, informed us about the current status of the construction.
"At the end of May, the Pápa-Tét-Dél section was more than 80 percent complete. Currently, asphalt wearing course construction, bridge finishing work, construction of the guardrail and wildlife fence, asphalt paving of the paved divider lane and water-conducting curbs are underway."
The expert pointed out: "The extreme rainy weather makes the work extremely difficult, the rain damage on the copper surfaces needs to be repaired continuously, which is difficult to do from the abrasive layer, from the tape railing. In rainy weather, asphalting work cannot be carried out either."
In addition to the above works, the painting of pavement signs, the installation of signs, the installation of technical elements of the plant communication system (meteorological station, traffic camera) and the grassing are still to be completed.
