The new route is expected to relieve congestion and improve transport in the area.

Residents of the Tatai Basin have been waiting a long time for the Környe bypass to be completed. As we reported, the final route has been available since September 2022.

According to information from the European Union's public procurement gazette information, Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium is seeking a designer for the bypass's authorisation and implementation plans. The deadline for submitting bids is 13 May 2025.

For many years,örnye has been one of the focal points of traffic congestion in the region, as it is a key part of the industrial and road network. The planned bypass is intended to relieve the village of through traffic, which almost paralyses traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hours, especially when the Tatabánya plants change shifts. The construction of the bypass would not only benefit the inhabitants of the municipality but would also increase the transport efficiency of the whole region.

The related road network will also be improved

The project will involve the design of a new 9.3-kilometre bypass, starting south of the Environs from the 8119 road, in a north-easterly direction. The road will be constructed with a 2×1 lane design for approximately 7.6 kilometres, while a section of approximately 1.7 kilometres will be widened to 2×2 lanes.

Six at-grade junctions and one at-grade junction would be built, and nine structures would be constructed, including a major 2×2 lane railway bridge with a 58.65 m superstructure length.

Related road network improvements are also planned: a new 2×1 lane road will be built for about 1.3 kilometres, and the existing 2×1 lane road will be upgraded for a 0.7 kilometre stretch.

Main crossings and connections of the route

The trail crosses several important local transport links. For example, the planned road crosses the 81128 and the cycle route between Környe-Vértessomló, the watercourse in the area, as well as several dirt roads and small watercourses. One of the most complex points of the project will be the intersection of railway line 12 and the adjacent road 5135, which will be solved by a separate level crossing.

At the end of the design phase, the road will join the 8135, with the junction being built in the vicinity of the 8+900 km marker.

The task includes not only the feasibility study and the necessary permits, but also full consultation, so that one of the region's oldest transport problems can finally be solved.
