Bridge construction over motorway

During the expansion of the M1 motorway, work is being carried out around the clock at several locations. MKIF has now presented spectacular images showing the progress of a bridge construction project.

Currently, great emphasis is being placed on the reconstruction, renovation or construction of bridges and other crossing structures affected by the development of the M1 motorway. This is logical, as after the construction of the new lanes, the bridges will have to span a larger space, and this space must be cleared before the new, wider lanes can be built. The construction of new crossings may also be necessary for the creation of junctions.

In some cases, bridge construction work is also carried out at night or continuously during the day – a brief description of this work and a photo gallery have now been published at MKIF Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt.

Formwork can be safely installed even at night, so despite the cold weather, professionals can work day and night at Nagyegyháza, west of Bicske.

During the extension of the M1, the section between the M0 and Bicske will be completed by the end of August 2028, and the section up to the Concó rest area in the Bábolna region will be completed by the end of August 2029, after which the development will continue. The 78 km of motorway 1 will be widened to 2×3 lanes, plus one intelligent stop lane per side to be used as a full lane. This will allow up to 2×4 lanes between Budapest and Győr.
