The Szeged Industrial Park can be supplied with drinking water by more than 5 kilometres of water pipelines from Veolia Mélyépítő.

Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium public procurement procedure is to „Szeged Industrial Park drinking water supply – V4 drinking water pipeline design and construction tasks” in order to ensure the water supply of industrial areas on the northern border of Szeged with a 7,000 m³/day capacity pipeline.

Industrial areas in Szeged are being developed with great vigour

The large-scale infrastructure development of the University of Szeged Science Park research, development and innovation centre is progressing spectacularly. The BYD electric car factory, the ELI-ALPS laser research centre and the Rheinmetall factory (which included the construction of two lakes and a significant water and sewage network) enables the world's leading large companies to work at the research facilities here.

We recently reported that completed the large-scale infrastructure development of the University of Szeged's Science Park research, development and innovation centre, where Délút constructed the more than half-kilometre-long cable leading to the electric car factory.

In February this year, handed over the public utility development and related road network of the 85-hectare science and technology park of the University of Szeged (SZTE), which was built by Colas Zrt. and Délút Kft. consortium. This is complemented by the work package won by Veolia Mélyépítő Magyarország Kft..

Veolia Mélyépítő Magyarország Kft. was awarded the contract for the complete design and construction of the complementary drinking water pipelines.

More than 5 kilometres of water pipeline under construction

The long-term water demand of the industrial park is 7.000 m3/day.

It is planned to supply water from the Szeged water distribution network, which will be implemented in four phases. The first three phases will be designed and implemented by Szeged Waterworks under its own responsibility. Short sections of pipeline will be built between the end points of the existing water distribution network and the industrial park, but these sections will not be able to supply the required long-distance water volume and will therefore require the preparation of the permit and design plans for the V4 pipeline and its implementation.

During the project, the winner will be responsible for

  • In Szeged, construction of a DN 500 GÖV drinking water pressure pipeline from the SENTAB transmission line on Pihenő Street (DN 1000) to the DN 355 KPE pipeline on Budapesti Street, 5.3 km in length,
  • of which a total of 100 metres are to be built using a cut-off technology.
  • The successful bidder will also be responsible for the preparation of the water rights permit and the construction plans.

The Veolia Mélyépítő has around 2.3 billion forints and exactly one year to do this.
