Two new free sports parks in Budapest from December
From 1 December, the Stadium Park next to the National Athletics Centre and the covered panoramic running track on top of the grandstand, known as the Panorama Sports Park, will be available for use free of charge. draws attention to it on its Facebook page Magyar Építő Zrt., which was the general contractor for the facility together with ZÁÉV Zrt.. The complex, which also served as the venue for the 2023 World Athletics Championships, has been reported on numerous occasions since then.
The Panorama Sports Park is a running track on top of the grandstands, while the Stadium Park is located around the facility.
As summarised in holmozogj.hu summarises, after the World Championships ended on 27 August last year, the National Athletics Centre was closed the very next day and the second phase of the investment began: the phase during which the athletics stadium and its surroundings were transformed into a leisure park open to the public.
In the newly opened Stadium Park:
- a fitness park equipped with streetworkout machines, including accessible equipment;
- two boulder walls;
- skatepark;
- playground;
- and sandy plains
is also open to visitors.
Recently, the mobile marquees have been dismantled, a playground has been built and the stadium building itself has undergone a number of minor renovations. Underneath the spectacular roof structure, a spacious and welcoming space has been created for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to the roof, the area can be used by recreational sportsmen and women in autumn and winter, in case of bad weather: the structure also protects the pitch from rain and freezing ice.
The Panorama Sports Park on the roof of the stadium's 15,000-seat grandstand has been enriched with a 650-metre rubber and concrete running track. The panoramic terrace offers a magnificent view of the city, and fitness islands have been built on the outer curve, with outdoor strengthening machines and equipment.
Joint success
One of the most significant construction projects of recent decades was the Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium investment, with general construction carried out by ZÁÉV Zrt. and Magyar Építő Zrt.. The project's technical supervisor was a consortium formed by Főber Zrt. and Óbuda-Újlak Zrt., while the general design was carried out by NAPUR Architect Kft.. The design, manufacture and installation of the central structure of the building, as well as the erection of the steel cable roof structure, was carried out by KÉSZ Csoport as a member of KÉSZ Metaltech Kft. and KÉSZ Ipari Gyártó Kft.. The group's strategic partner, bim.GROUP, was responsible for the design, manufacture and construction of the steel and cable roof structure. The general support structure design tasks were performed by EXON 2000 Kft.. The Robinson Bridge, built next to NAK, was constructed by Hídépítő Zrt. built the Robinson Bridge, constructed next to the NAK, as a subcontractor of the consortium, based on the designs of Speciálterv Kft..
