What is being built?
The expansion of the country's leading contract painting plant is nearing completion
In autumn 2024, we wrote about the development of Aalberts Surface Technologies Kft."s Tatabánya site. The company offers solutions in the field of high-quality functional coatings and surface treatments that can be used for custom, special or mass production in the automotive, railway vehicle manufacturing, agricultural machinery manufacturing, food, construction and even military industries.
The investment, worth approximately €22 million, will see the construction of a 10,700 square metre building complex to house the planned production lines and a new logistics area. The general contractor for the facility is Weinberg ’93 Építő Kft..
We asked Silárd Kovács, project manager of the Weinberg about the progress of the construction.
The specialist said that the hall will also house specific technological equipment and an assembly line for corrosion protection and the pre-assembly of car parts
"We built a lot of recessed shafts for the machine, and we put in different recesses, which we had to build with millimetre precision, because they have to fit the machines exactly. In order to meet the technological requirements, we made a significant number of openings in the roof, in both size and volume, to allow for air supply."
Only the finishing touches are left
The building was constructed of reinforced concrete, the additional steel structures were manufactured in Sárospatak, at the Weinberg plant. The complex was built using conventional technology, the office building was clad with composite sheet cladding, he added.
Since our October summary article, the building has been completely closed, and the industrial floor, roads, walkways and connecting corridor around the hall have been completed. Engineering work on the construction has been carried out by 7 people, with an average of 12-20 people on the site.
According to the project manager, only the interior of the office building remains to be completed, with final completion expected in the second half of 2025.
Thanks to the investment, the Aalberts Surface Technologies Kft. in Tatabánya will further strengthen its leading role among the Hungarian contract painting plants, thus becoming an indispensable player in the Hungarian automotive ecosystem.
