The Rheinmetall production hall built in Szeged as a greenfield investment
Last March, laid the foundation stone for the development of Rheinmetall, which was handed over today and forms an important part of Szeged's newly built scientific-industrial-innovation hub. The hall itself covers 16,500 square metres and includes manufacturing, assembly and storage facilities, as well as an office section.
At the opening ceremony of the German company, which is primarily known for its activities in the defence industry, it was highlighted that the government had supported the automotive division's greenfield investment of approximately 29 billion forints with around 13 billion forints, thereby facilitating the creation of three hundred new, highly skilled jobs by 2030.
As Minister Péter Szijjártó said at the event, this will be the group's first hybrid site outside Germany, where they will primarily manufacture components that are particularly important in conventional and electric vehicles, as well as in renewable energy power plants.
He then pointed out that the investment will be implemented at the University of Szeged's Science Park. He explained that this clearly demonstrates that we are talking about state-of-the-art technologies and investing in the future.
