Hungarian paper manufacturer replaces imports with huge investment

The production capacity of Vajda-Papír will be significantly expanded, and domestic production of wet wipes can also commence.

The construction of Vajda-Papír's new plant in Dunaföldvár has begun with the laying of the foundation stone. The company is financing the project by repatriating profits generated in Norway. According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Hungarian government is supporting the HUF 71 billion investment with HUF 25 billion.

At the event, Minister Péter Szijjártó stated that the company's production capacity will increase significantly and that the domestic production of wet wipes, which have so far been imported into Hungary, can also begin.

They export to thirty countries.

Focusing on renewable energy, the company is also building a solar park, which will make its operations much more competitive, and is launching a training programme that will give employees access to the latest IT and paper industry knowledge.

Vajda-Papír is a major player in the Hungarian household paper manufacturing industry and one of Europe's most modern hygiene paper manufacturers. The company works almost exclusively with Hungarian suppliers, providing opportunities for growth to small and medium-sized enterprises in Dunaföldvár, Paks and other nearby areas. It employs nearly 600 people in Hungary and 700 abroad, and exports to 30 countries.
