The technical handover has already taken place.

The Nagyváradi Road cycle path in Gyula, which was built in three months with a net grant of 157 million forints from the EU, has been completed, said Ernő Görgényi, the mayor of Gyula.

As he said, the technical handover has been completed and the procedure for putting the cycle path into service is now starting. "During the process, which will take about a month, it will be possible to use the newly completed cycle path, but everyone will use it at their own risk until the licence is issued," he underlined.

The construction was carried out by local DBD-Bau Kft. for just under a kilometre; 260 metres of undivided footpath and cycle track; 400 metres of independent two-way cycle track and a short section of two-way cycle lane. The project also included the drainage of rainwater in one area.

You can get to the water on the cycle path

The Nagyváradi road cycle path will be part of the existing network to the popular coastal resort of Városerdő, and will connect to the cycle path network to Szanazug, another popular coastal resort in the area.

The municipality won one billion forints from the Operational Programme for Regional and Urban Development (TOP), which will be used to renovate the 19th century town hall, the so-called Ladics House and the Centenary Confectionery, in addition to the cycle path, which are currently under construction.
