The previously closed section of the M30 motorway will be open again from 6 p.m. today. The decision was announced by János Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport, on his social media page.

The repair of the M30 section in Szikszó was taken over from STRABAG by Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM) and the operator Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. (MKIF) in mid-December. .

The restored section was handed over

As we mentioned in our latest article, on 16 December, an on-site inspection was carried out to check the restoration of the section of the M30 motorway between Miskolc and Szikszó, which had been closed since February 2024, and it was announced that the affected section of the motorway would be reopened to traffic. However, traffic could not start as the ministry imposed new conditions on the contractor.

They promised that the lockdown would end tonight.

The M30 motorway near Szikszó had to be closed last February due to an embankment breach caused by unforeseen groundwater movement. We reported in detail on the causes of the problem and the restoration work in our previous article. On Monday evening, János Lázár wrote on his social media page that Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium had called in the bank guarantee worth HUF 2 billion. He also announced that the previously closed section of the M30 motorway would be opened to traffic at 6 p.m. on 30 December.
