This is how railway electricity supply can be developed at the Kimle and Tatabánya substations
Results regarding new and renewed substations were announced on the MÁV network – see TED. The client for the project, which was put out to tender as a conditional public procurement procedure, is MÁV Pályaműködtetési Zrt., and the winning contractors are Homlok Fővállalkozó Építőipari és Kereskedelmi Kft., and Vasútvillamosító Kft..
The value of the development is nearly 4 billion forints, which is linked to the REPowerEU objectives as part of the MÁV railway infrastructure. (The REPowerEU plan was developed and implemented by the European Commission with the aim of gradually phasing out fossil fuel imports from Russia. REPowerEU helps the EU to save energy, diversify its energy supply and produce clean energy – ed.
The project covers a total of five sub-station districts, and the results for Part 1 have now been announced:
- Kimle
- Tatabánya
- Füzesabony
- Nyékládháza
- Free Church
Therefore, in this project, the Kimle and Tatabánya substations connected to railway line 1 will be developed.
As a result of the development, the railway power supply:
- becomes more reliable and dependable,
- will be able to handle increasing traffic and more powerful vehicles,
- contributes to the spread of environmentally friendly transport,
- and improves the quality of rail services.
Railway power supply can become more reliable and secure
The works affecting the Kimle and Tatabánya substations involve the entire electrical and architectural infrastructure. The investment includes not only construction but also extensive design tasks.
During the tram and technological modernisation, the following will take place
- Complete reconstruction of 132/25 kV transformer fields,
- Complete renewal of the 25 kV traction system with modern, gas-insulated switchgear.,
- Reconstruction of 25 kV power supplies,
- complete refurbishment of auxiliary systems (single-phase, three-phase and direct current networks),
- installation of uninterruptible power supply,
- Modernisation of consumption measurement and operational systems.
In addition, they will build modern control and dispatching systems, and then develop the related communications and data transmission systems.
Architectural and environmental works
The substation buildings and, if necessary, the MÁV control buildings may also be renovated or converted. Furthermore, they shall ensure
- environmental improvement works,
- construction of facilities for treating oily rainwater (hydrocarbon separators, collection basins),
- complete reconstruction of earthing and lightning protection systems,
- the necessary conversion and installation of outdoor lighting, property protection and fire protection systems.
The work to be carried out also includes the renovation and installation of backup power supply systems, the expansion of operating systems, and the acquisition of the necessary operating licences.
