Bound track
The substructure is complete, track construction can begin on the Vác–Balassagyarmat line
Another phase of work has been completed on the country's busiest branch line. Two weeks ago, we we wrote about the modernisation work on the MÁV 75 Vác–Balassagyarmat railway line. Zsolt Hegyi, CEO of the MÁV group, has now published another photo report Facebook page.
As he wrote: „The substructure on the Vác–Balassagyarmat line is complete! My colleagues kept up the pace despite the clayey soil, so we have reached a key milestone: a stable, load-bearing foundation has been laid for the complete renovation of the track.”
„This is the section that will provide a secure foundation for decades to come – literally, as the new substructure is the basis for the long-term reliability of the line. The pictures clearly show all the work that has been done „under the surface” so far. From here on, the more spectacular phase begins: track construction can start.”
As is well known, the complex renovation between Vác and Szokolya affects a total of 7 kilometres of track: 14,000 reinforced concrete sleepers will be installed, 14 kilometres of track will be replaced, 10,000 rail holes will be repaired, 5 level crossings will be rebuilt, and heavy machinery will be used to adjust the track. The locations and tasks for the elevated maintenance will be determined based on measurement results for the section between Szokolya and Balassagyarmat. As part of this, the substructure will be completely renovated in several places due to drainage problems.
