Solar panels will provide all the energy in Pécs' new gymnasium
In Pécs, the foundation stone of the new gymnasium of the Pollack Mihály Technical College of the Baranya Vármegyei Vocational Training Centre (BVSzC PMTK) was laid.
The facility will have a 20×40 metre sports floor with a fighting area. The project will be built with the support of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRF) with a budget of HUF 1.66 billion and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026.
Zoltán Nyul, Deputy State Secretary for Civil Engineering of Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM), in his speech before the placement of the time capsule, stressed that the project will fill a missing function. The project is also exceptional because it will be powered entirely by solar panels, with batteries installed, and the complex will be air-conditioned by cooling and heat pumps.
Gergely Pálmai, Deputy State Secretary for Vocational Education and Training at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM), pointed out that the wages of vocational education and training workers have been increased two and a half times in the last five years. László Őri (Fidesz-KDNP), president of the Baranya County Municipality, said that the construction of the gymnasium would make a two-decade dream of the BVSzC come true.
