Gyula railway station is being modernised by restoring the building's original mass and roof shape. The bid submitted by Jánosik és Társai Kft. was considered the most favourable for the implementation.

Comprehensive renovation work can begin on the station building at Gyula railway station. The aim is to modernise the building's structure and functionality, ensure that it meets energy requirements, and make the station's spaces more transparent. According to the EU public procurement notice announcement, the construction work will be carried out by Jánosik és Társai Ipari, Szolgáltató és Karbantartó Kft..

The nearly 1,000-square-metre building and its surroundings will also be renovated.

The gross floor area of the building affected by the development is 999.47 square metres, which includes the basement, ground floor and first floor, while the landscaping will cover an area of approximately 710 square metres.

The original building mass will be restored

One important element of the planned interventions is the restoration of the original high-roofed mass, which will return the building's axis to the line of Béke Boulevard. During the works, the roof structure and façade design will be renewed, the external boundary structures will be fitted with modern thermal insulation, and new windows and doors will be installed. The appearance of the façade is based on the character of the locally protected warehouse building, with the use of brick decorations and plastered surfaces.

Eliminate damp walls

As part of the building's mechanical modernisation, an air-water heat pump system will be installed. Retrofitted wall insulation will be installed to eliminate rising damp in the walls, and the cellar will be given a technical function.

Passenger traffic and operational functions are separated

One of the key elements of the investment is the clear separation of functions. A centrally located passenger hall will be created on the ground floor, which can be accessed from the city forecourt and the platform via automatic entrances. The MÁV-Start ticket office block will be located on the eastern side of the building, while the toilet block will be accessible from the passenger hall via a corridor.

The upstairs flats will be converted into lounges and offices.

A rentable space also opens up from the platform. Most of the operational functions will remain in place, but new changing rooms, washrooms and service rooms will be built. With the removal of the upstairs flats, new operational areas, rest rooms and offices will be created.

New parking spaces to be created

As part of the investment, new paving will be laid on an area of approximately 665 square metres and a glazed canopy will be built. A covered B+R bicycle storage facility with a total capacity of 80 spaces will be built on both sides of the building, and barrier-free parking spaces will also be created. A complex passenger information system will be installed at the station, and tactile markings will facilitate barrier-free use.

Complex technical renewal may be implemented

As a result of the investment, the Gyula station will be expanded with a more modern energy system and a more functionally transparent reception building, which will be adapted to the needs of both railway operations and passenger traffic.
