Six road improvement projects to improve transport in Somogy County

The comprehensive renovation of more than 21 kilometres of secondary roads has begun in Somogy County on six road sections under the Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. programme. According to a statement from the public road operator, within the framework of TOP Plusz, the gross HUF 5.414 billion road development will be implemented with non-repayable EU funding in the implementation of Soltút Kft..

Among other things, the Juta-Pusztakovácsi link road 6703 has been reconstructed on a 7.684-kilometre stretch. The contractor spent a net amount of HUF 1.097 billion on the project.

The development included the inner and outer sections of the municipalities of Juta and Hetes and the outer section of the municipality of Mezőcsokonya. Asphalt pavement was reinforced on a measured scale, the roadside drainage system was upgraded and culverts were cleaned and rebuilt as required.

Standard bays and platforms have been constructed at seven bus stops on the affected section, and traffic signs have been renewed and a steel road barrier has been built. The bridge over the Olajhegyi stream crossing the national road at km 1+744 has been rebuilt.

As part of the rehabilitation, a cold remix pavement base was constructed on site in the required locations, followed by an asphalt binder course, asphalt wearing course and a new stabilized pavement over the entire surface. Construction took place.

Under the Operational Programme for Spatial and Urban Development Plus, 493 kilometres of 4 and 5-digit secondary roads were upgraded in 14 counties nationwide in 2021.
