Road building
The area around the Balatoni út overpass in Zalaegerszeg may be renovated
Renovation work can begin on the section of road connected to the Balatoni út overpass in Zalaegerszeg, according to the EU tenders website. The public procurement is conditional, meaning that the start of construction is subject to certain preconditions being met. The deadline for submitting bids is 19 January 2026.
According to the announcement, the bridge over the railway line at kilometre 54+828 of main road 76 will be modernised. The aim of the investment is to make crossing this section of road safer, more durable and more comfortable for both motorists and pedestrians.
What exactly is being renewed?
The renovation may not affect the bridge itself, but rather the road and pavements connected to the overpass.
As part of the road resurfacing works on the connecting road sections:
- 10–10 metres long,
- The asphalt surface will be renewed in two layers.
To do this, first the old asphalt is removed, then the following layers are installed:
- 22.4 m³ AC-22 bonding layer
- 19.6 m³ AC-16 binder layer
- 11.2 m³ AC-11 wearing course
Renovation of pavements and kerbs
The connecting pavements at both ends of the bridge will also be completely renovated:
- 7.5–7.5 metres,
- with complete track replacement.
The following materials will be used during the works:
- 6.8 m³ Ckt-4 (cement-bound base layer),
- 1.8 m³ AC-8 asphalt layer.
In addition, 32 metres of raised kerbs will also be replaced.
Replacement of slope and drainage elements
The development of the bridge's surroundings is part of the investment, particularly with regard to the safe drainage of rainwater. According to the plans:
- slope covering from the centre 405 m² surface area renewed with prefabricated cladding elements, concrete bedding and grouting,
- and 2 monolithic reinforced concrete slabs will also be replaced in total 28 metres in length with prefabricated elements.
The gutters ensure the safe drainage of rainwater accumulating around the bridge, thereby protecting the embankment and road surface. Their ends are finished with natural stone cladding.
